Distance

The amount of separation between or within any two points in space.

Distance is a generic term and is commonly used interchangeably with space, gap, and range.

 

Distance can encompass one, two, three, or four dimensions.

 

In the physical terms:

a.In common vernacular, when one refers to distance, one is typically referring to span between to points in one's environment.

b.Distance more commonly refers to a one dimensional span.

c.Distance differs from space, in that distance more commonly refers to a single dimension of separation between two environmental objects.

d.Distance differs from gap, in that distance is less commonly associated with three dimensional separation between combatants and rarely associated with holes and/or openings in defenses.

e.Distance differs from range, in that distance is less commonly associated with weapons to targets.

In chronological terms:

a.Distance differs from space, in that distance more commonly refers to a long or prolonged separation in time.

b.Distance differs from gap, in that distance is not commonly associated with time between moves.

c.Distance differs from range, in that distance is not commonly associated with timing and rhythm.

Example(s):


The measured span between two combatants, would demonstrate the distance between the two.

 

Any amount of time between the execution of any two moves, would demonstrate a distance in time where nothing occurred.
