Comments: |
Often used interchangeably with pull, but technically, subtly different. |
Example(s): |
During a handshake, if one were to pull the opponent's hand, there would be little chance of dislocating the opponent's shoulder, but a larger chance of disrupting the opponent's base. This is due to the fact that the force being applied would be relatively consistent and predictable, giving the opponent's body a chance to respond.
But, in the same situation, if one were to apply a yank, there would be a larger chance that the opponent's shoulder would dislocate, but an equal chance of disrupting the opponent's base. This is due to the fact the force being applied would be done over a much shorter period of time, with greater acceleration, not giving the opponent's body a chance to respond. |
