Distance Matching

An idiom referring to setting and maintaining of a set range regardless of the opponent's motions.

Comments:

Distance Matching is often used in the context of a response to an initial interaction where you do not allow the opponent(s) to get into Contact Penetration range. Rather, through the use of Foot Maneuvers and/or Body Maneuvers an initial defensive range is decided upon and then maintained until you are the one to purposely change it.

The implementation of this strategy is achieved through Environmental Awareness and often only implementable with a relatively Open Environment.
