Extension

1)

The amount or degree to which a limb is straightened.

2)

An idiom referring to a suffix to a base Self-Defense Technique.

Inflected Form(s):

Extensions (plural)

Comments:

1)

Hyper-extension (a.k.a. locking) can be used as a method for controlling an opponent's Dimensional Zones.

One should be keenly aware of the over extension of the limbs. This can lead to un-anchored elbows, over exposure of the joints, and unprotected (not covered) areas of the body.

This is also the layman's usage of the term.

2)

This term can be used to refer to one's own suffixing of maneuvers to the end of a Base Technique, or to one that is part of the standard curriculum of American Kenpo.

Opposite(s):

2)
