The easiest way to conceptualize this theory is to visualize a three (3) dimensional box with someone on the inside of the box and each of the directions within the box correspond to a Dimensional Zone (#2).
This theory is a basic way to divide the opponent into easily identifiable segments which then can be analyzed for defensive and offensive purposes. Using this concept each of the Dimensions are divided into regions. See Depth Zone, Height Zone, and Width Zone for specifics.
Dimensional Zone is closely associated with the Zone Concept of Directional Movement. |
2) |
This is essentially the layman's understanding of the term.
The idea of Dimensional Zones is that it is composed of the three (3) dimensions of space with each of the zones associated with each dimension:
Using these zones, one can illustrate the basic Power Principles of American Kenpo.
The Dimensional Zones are used for defense (Angle of Defense, Zone of Protection), offense (Angle of Attack), and balance (Angle of Balance). See #1. |
