Short Range is not limited to a forward Point of Reference, but can be utilized at any angle or directionaround the practitioner.
Advantages of Short Range: a.a wider choice of weapons is available at at Short Range b.allows for easy use of the dimension of height c.allows you to easily maintain contact with the opponent d.allows weapons of the opponent to be easily checked e.allows for the easy use of obscured weapons f.allows for a practitioner with lesser reach than the opponent to stay at a comfortable distance for them self, but too close of a distance for their opponent
Disadvantages of Short Range: a.Each of the advantages could just as easily be used against you b.The advantages of Long Range are minimized
The practitioner is encouraged to become adept at working at Short Range.
It is said that a Kenpo practitioner is most deadly in a confined space.
Contact Manipulation typically occurs at Close Range distances. |
