Point of Origin

An idiom describing where a maneuver or method begins.

2)

An idiom describing a maneuver or method executed as starting from an originating point in space without any transitory, extraneous, and/or unneeded movement; or from the exact concluding point in space of a previous maneuver or method.

This is the layman's usage of the term.

 

Using this definition in reference to Economy of Motion, the Point of Origin would be prior to cocking tje weapon, thus demonstrating the lack of economy (i.e. Wasted Motion).

2)

One way to easily understand Point of Origin is that it is the practical implementation of Economy of Motion, through the phrase: "don't make a cock a separate motion" or "remove any wasted motion".

 

Point of Origin is considered a term for proper standard execution for most weapons - regardless of whether implemented for offensive or defensive purposes.

 

Through the implementation of Point of Origin one also eliminates telegraphing, Body Signals, and other extraneous motions that can detract from the overall effectiveness and/or successful implementation of the maneuver or method.
