Cat Around

An idiom describing the repositioning of one's stance such that one's foot is transferred from one side of any Environmental Object to the other side of the Environmental Object - by going around the Environmental Object on a Horizontal Plane.

Comments:

The most common application for Catting Around is for a practitioner to reposition their foot from one side of an opponent's leg to the other side of the opponent's leg - to create a more effective and less vulnerable position.

Catting Around is usually not executed by itself - but, is typically executed with some other factor, such as leveraging or unbalancing, that allows for the move to be accomplished without needlessly exposing the practitioner during the period of transition.

Catting Around is typically limited to the Horizontal Plane, while execution on other planes would create different maneuvers.

Example(s):

With opponent applying a front bear hug, arms free - transitioning one's foot from in front of the opponent's leg to behind the opponent's leg would demonstrate Catting Around.

Derivation:

The term is taken from the fact that a transitory cat stance is created during the repositioning of the foot.
