Cross

1)

An idiom describing any maneuver which originates on one side of an environmental object, passes its centerline, and terminates on the equivalent opposite side of the environmental object.

2)

Argot for crossing of the arms or legs.

Inflected Form(s):

Crossing (adjective), Crossed (past tense), Crosses (plural)

Comments:

1)

Although generic in nature, this term is most often used in two (2) contexts:

1.to describe the intersection of any environmental object in relation to another environmental object

2.the description of a checking maneuver which uses the width of the body to eliminate the width zone of an opponent

In the intersection scenario above, this can best be simplified by saying that the objects were crosses. Another way to look at this scenario is that the objects visually created a "+" or an "x".

In the checking scenario above, this is referred to as a cross check.

2)

The argot basically describes the physical implementation of the first definition either by the attacker or defender.
