Medium Range

A constrained range which spans the outer distance of Short Range, at its closest point - to the inner distance of Long Range, at its furthest point.

Comments:

 

Medium Range is not limited to a forward Point of Reference, but can be utilized at any angle or direction around the practitioner.

 

Medium Range is typically about 1/3 - 1/2 the distance of a fully extended Long Range Weapon or just beyond the reach of a Close Range Weapon.

 

Advantages of Medium Range:

a.allows for easy transition from Short Range to Long Range

b.allows for most of the advantages of both Short Range and Long Range to be exploited

 

Disadvantages of Medium Range:

Allows for the disadvantages of both Short Range and Long Range to be exploited by the opponent

 

Both Contact Penetration and Contact Manipulation can typically occur at Medium Range distances.
