Position

The location or manner in which an Environmental Object is currently placed, postured, or arranged.

2)

Mental point of view or standing.

3)

A condition of a situation at a given time, specifically as it relates to ability.

In many respects posture can be used in place of position.

1)

This is the most common use of this term. It generally refers to location in environment.

 

Position differs from posture in that position is concerned with location of the Environmental Object rather than its arrangement.

2)

Often this term is used to reflect one's attitude, principles, or convictions on a specific subject, situation, or concept.

3)

In this context, this term has both a mental and physical aspect, and relates to things like:

availability

maneuverability

visibility

continuity

distance / range / gap

attitude, etc. (as mentioned in comment #2)

Example(s):

A chambered position is shorthand for the arms being positioned at the hips.

2)

A pacifist has a principle of peace over combat. They default to a position of peace.

3)

Having to combat more than one individual is typically referred to as being positioned with a disadvantage.
