Controlling the delivery of a strike such that the intended effect on the target is either minimized or negated. This is accomplished by shortening the delivery range of the strike. The final remaining distance between the intended target and the weapon can vary from a fraction of an inch to the surface of the target.

2)

A distinct method of range altering - which has the effect of decreasing distance between you and an object/opponent, by causing the object/opponent to move. This is accomplished by applying a relatively steady pressure against the object/opponent, without the intent to cause injury.
