Surface Contact refers to the category of the range of contact where only surface penetration into the intended target can be made.
Surface Contact can only occur when the intended weapon(s) is/are Within Contact of the opponent.

Claws, rakes, slices, whips, blocks, parries, grabs, etc. are most commonly thought of when referring to Surface Contact.
