Cover Out

An idiom referring to the Foot Maneuver used to disengage from the opponent(s) and is physically distinguishable by the execution of a front cross-over followed by a step out.

Comments:

The term Cover Out is most closely related to Self-Defense and refers to the final Foot Maneuvers used to fully disengage from the opponent(s).

The general purpose of the Cover Out is to create distance from the opponent(s) after all maneuvers are completed, for the purpose of safety.

Cover Out differs from Double Cover Out in that the Double Cover Out adds an additional Step-Through Foot Maneuver. See Double Cover Out for more information. Generally speaking, a Cover Out is relatively one half of a Double Cover Out.

Cover Out can also be referred to as a Side Cover. In the context of Side Cover, there is a Left Side Cover and a Right Side Cover depending upon starting side of the Lead Leg.
