Time Deterrent

An idiom referring to the disruption of the opponent's timing in such a way as to delay their ability to retaliate without first having to compensate for your disruption.

Comments:

A simple way to understand Time Deterrent is that it is simply keeping the opponent(s) off balance in such a way as to prevent them from immediate effective retaliation without having to first regroup their physical leverages.

Time Deterrent can be thought of as a form of leverage control over the opponent.

Time Deterrent is a general term and does not specify how, but rather what the result is.

Example(s):

Pushing (or striking) the opponent's face and forcing them to bend backward in response creates a Time Deterrent.
