Comments:

1)

Whips can be effected using Natural Weapons or Man-Made Weapons.

Whips are commonly enacted with an equally or more rapid Returning Motion, but that is not a requirement.

See whip in basics for more information on a natural whip.

Whips are more commonly enacted using the tip(s) of a weapon, but may also be enacted using the length of the weapon.

Whips have elements of both circular and linear motion.

Whips require at least a Surface Contact range of depth.

Whipping maneuvers almost always have the intent to be minor maneuvers.

Whipping maneuvers rely heavily on the Torque generated by reversing the direction of the weapon at the Point of Contact.

Whipping maneuvers can derive as much power from the return motion as they do from power transferred by the weapon entry.

Whips differ from snaps in that whips tend to have the intent to have more Surface Contact rather than Contact Penetration and are more intentionally abrupt in nature.

Whips differ from thrusts in that snaps, by definition, must have returning motion.

Whips tend to reduce Prolonged Exposure of weapons.

The Postural Position of both you and your opponent have a large influence over the available paths an intended weapon can travel.

Derivation:

The term is originates from the physical similarity to the motion generated by a whip.
