Rip

To damage by creating a laceration or pulling apart.

Rip and tear are often used interchangeably.

 

Rip differs from tear in that rips are often more closely associated with clawing, slicing, and raking - and also with rough or vigorous activity.

 

Rip differs from gouge in that intent of a rip is to separate through pulling or pushing, where gouge relies upon scooping or hooking to forcibly remove parts of the target through contact.

 

Rips are most closely associated with damage created by claws, slices, rakes, and/or pulls (utilizing Opposing Forces). And, to a lesser degree by pokes and/or gouges,.
