In layman's terms, a strike is a generic term for any offensive maneuver that hits.
Strikes include Finger Techniques, Kicks, and Punches, but those maneuvers are given their own categories due to the specialty of the strikes.
Strikes can be executed in vast array of directions (e.g. straight, side, up, down, etc.), orientations (e.g. horizontal, vertical, inverted, etc.), and any part of the body (a.k.a. natural weapon) or man-made weapons.
Additionally, strikes can be executed with any of the Methods of Execution.
Given the numerous potential options available to effect the maneuver, one can easily see that the potential for creating a list of all possible strikes is daunting. This is why primarily only the strikes included in the original written curriculum are individually listed in this section. The exception to this are specialty strikes that need to be highlighted do to there usage in a variety of combat and training situations. |
