Target Availability

A consideration when deciding upon specific strategic applications in both a defensive and offensive scenario which entails the accessibility of various vulnerable areas of the body on both yourself and the opponent(s).

Comments:

From a specific Point of View, Target Availability can be simply thought of as what can easily be hit by either you or your opponent(s).

Target Availability is related to Line of Sight in that targets that are in Line of Sight are typically available as targets. Although, one should always be aware that this could be a Deceptive Action.

Target Availability is most commonly used in the context of immediate access, but could also be considered in a follow-up capacity - i.e. after an initial maneuver or method (or series of maneuvers or methods). See Feint, Continuous Weapons, Open the Line, Reactionary Position, etc. for more information.
