In many respects position can be used in place of posture.

This is the most common use of this term. It generally refers to body and body part positioning and alignment; but can technically refer any Environmental Object.

 

Posture is one of many key elements to power generation for both offensive and defensive maneuvering.

 

Posture differs from position in that posture is concerned with arrangement of the Environmental Object rather than its location.

The term used in this context is a way of referring one's attitude, attention, concentration, focus, etc.

In this context, this term has both a mental and physical aspect, and relates to things like:

availability

maneuverability

visibility

continuity

distance / range / gap

attitude, etc. (as mentioned in comment #2)
