Comments:

1)

Attention stances are typically adopted prior to the opening and closing of a learning session, during instruction, and just prior to giving a command to execute a move.

Attention stances are rarely used during combat, but are more likely a stance from which combat is started.

2)

This command is usually given in order to ensure the practitioner(s) is/are ready and the instructor has their full concentration.

3)

In an offensive situation, it is usually advantageous to misdirect an opponent's attention. This can usually have the same result as attacking the opponent's Obscure Zones. Likewise, it is advisable that the same is not done to you.

See Combat Awareness for more information on attention as it relates to combat.
