Shovel

A distinct, sophisticated strike that employs an uninterrupted arcing Path of Travel, hitting with both ends of the weapon in sequence.

Comments:

 

Almost always, a shovel refers to a kick that follows a downward and then upward arcing Path of Travel that first hits with the ball followed by the heel of the foot.

 

Although not typically done, this maneuver could potentially be replicated using the hand; or even any weapon with multiple potential contact points.

 

One way to think about this maneuver is that it is a scoop in a downward direction and sophisticated.

Derivation:

 

This maneuver gets its name from the Path of Travel resembling a shoveling motion.
