A maneuver where the offensive weapon is employed using a stage of range of surface contact to cut, rip, tear or otherwise harm the intended target by deeply contouring it with the tip(s) of the weapon. |

Typically, damage is inflicted with the nails of the hand by digging into the surface of the intended target.
Scratch differs from slice in that scratches tend to be less severe in damage. Although not technically correct, a scratch is more typically done with all the fingers of the hand, where a slice uses a sub-set of the fingers - most typically two (2) fingers.
Scratch differs from claw in that scratches tend to be embryonic maneuvers, where claws tend to be sophisticated maneuvers..
Scratch differs from scrape in that scratches are isolated to using the tip(s) of the weapon, and a scrape are isolated to using the side of the weapon. |
