Any check that is creating by applying pressure against an opposing surface. |

This term refers to only one main characteristic of the overall checking maneuver. Because of this, the same checking maneuver can potentially be referred to in different ways or through a combination of characteristics.
A Pressing Check differs from a Pinning Check, in that the Pressing Check uses a path of action, to take advantage of the contour of the opposing surface. But, the terms are often used interchangeably.
Technically speaking this is a method of contouring.
