this term refers to only one main characteristic of the overall checking maneuver. Because of this, the same checking maneuver can potentially be referred to in different ways or through a combination of characteristics.
A Sliding Check differs from a Roving Check, in that the Roving Check is more non-specific on the method of travel.
A Sliding Check differs from a Rolling Check, in that the Rolling Check has a requirement of using rotation as the means of travel and sliding does not.
Technically speaking this is a method of contouring.
