Pressure Point


Specific areas on the human body where nerves are exposed and/or converge or split which can be exploited for injury or pain on the opponent.

This is the layman's usage of the term.

 

There are many charts of Pressure Points on the human body which detail there locations.

 

There are whole martial art systems based around the exploitation of the Pressure Points of the human body.

 

Pressure Points are potential targets for both striking and manipulation (i.e. Contact Manipulation) due to their sensitivity to applied contact.

 

Pressure Point is closely associated with the term Fit, due to the fact that many Pressure Points are concave in nature.

 

Pressure Points are commonly exploited through a Position of Opportunity.

 

Pressure Point are most commonly exploited through the Contact Penetration or Contact Manipulation range.

 

Pressure Points on the human body can be "deadened", meaning they can no longer be activated by pressure. One should be aware of this fact when relying upon this methodology of offense.

The name Pressure Point comes from the fact that the point is affected by pressure being applied to it.
