This term refers to only one main characteristic of the overall checking maneuver. Because of this, the same checking maneuver can potentially be referred to in different ways or through a combination of characteristics.
Skip Check differs from Pressing Check in that the Pressing Check only make contact once, where a Skip Check makes contact multiple times in succession at different locations. This is also true for Dipping Check.
Skip Check differs from Patting Check in that the Skip Check typically makes contact at different locations, but that is not a requirement. Also, Skip Checks are typically more forceful than Patting Checks.
Skip Check differs from Roving Check in that the Skip Check requires a temporary loss of contact before traveling to a new location, and a Skip Check can stay at the same location.
Technically speaking this is a method of contouring.
