Contact Deviation differs from Angle of Deviation, in that Contact Deviation must use contact.

Contact Deviation differs from Angle of Deflection in that Contact Deviation doesn't have to deflect the offensive weapon. Rather, deviation can be created by moving the intended target, while contact with the offensive weapon prevents the offensive weapon from striking its intended target. Used this way, Contact Deviation would act like a check, rather than a block.
