The side opposite to the front of anything.

2)

The surface of the body from the bottom of the neck to the tail bone on the side where the spinal cord is located.

Comments:

 

This term is very generic and has many different meanings.

1)

The targets on the back of the body tend to be more vulnerable and are usually more exposed - see Obscure Zone.

2)

The back has Vital Targets and if struck can incapacitate and possibly permanently injure an opponent.

3)

The back weapons have the advantage of naturally having a longer Path of Travel in which to develop more power, but have the disadvantage of typically not having as much reach as the front weapons - without adjusting one's stance or Stepping-Through.

 

This term is often used interchangeably with hind, furthest, and rear.

4)

Executed weapons tend to be returned back to their original position.

5)

Using the Clock Principle, this direction is within the 3:00 - 9:00 range with the Point of Reference to 12:00.
