American Kenpo practitioners never bow to another individual to show respect. A bow is only executed for specific conceptual purposes. In America, bowing is considered demeaning and a show of submissiveness to superiority. Instead we salute as a sign of respect.
The salutation (or a short version there of) is typically used to substitute for a military salute in American Kenpo. |
