Kenpo practitioners are taught to never bow to an individual or group - only to inanimate objects. This is due to the fact that bowing is traditionally a sign of subservience.
If a Kenpo practitioner wishes to show their respect to an individual or group, they are taught to salute.
The bow in Kenpo is to symbolically show respect for the art, it's deadly potential, and all of the others that have trained before them. |
