Close the Gate

An idiom describing the positioning of the body such that the Dimensional Zones are minimized - for the purpose of minimizing Target Availability to the opponent(s).

Comments:

Closing the Gate refers to the (re)positioning of the body for the expressed purpose of enhancing defenses of targets.  Usually, this refers to some form of Body Maneuver , but does not expressly exclude the repositioning of the arms and legs along with the body.

Closing the Gate is a trade off between Defensibility and Availability.  Too much Closing the Gate can also minimize your Weapon Availability.  Too little Closing the Gate can increase Target Availability for the opponent.

Close the Gate differs from Close the Line, in that Close the Gate typically refers to repositioning of the body.
