Often used in conjunction with the term 'Degree of x' where 'x' is replaced with the intended characteristic (e.g. injury, opening, rotation, etc...).

In American Kenpo there are ten degrees of black belt, three degrees of brown belt, and often at least one degree in the lower ranks.

Example(s):

If one were to execute a vertical punch as opposed to a straight punch, there would be a different degree of rotation of the punch.

If a black belt practitioner had a bar and a stripe on their black belt they would be said to be a sixth degree black belt.
