Angle of Prevention

An idiom describing the angle at which a defensive move has in relation to its target at the Point of Contact.

Comments:

An Angle of Prevention differs from an Angle of Contact in that an Angle of Contact is more generic and can refer to contact made from offensive as well as defensive moves.

Typically, an Angle of Prevention produces the maximum desired effect at the Point of Contact.

An Angle of Defense is used to produce an Angle of Prevention.

An Angle of Prevention follows an Angle of Defense and precedes (optionally) and Angle of Retraction.

See Angle of Contact comments for more discussion on this subject.

Example(s):

A right inward block to the outside of an opponent's left arm, above the elbow, creates an Angle of Prevention at the Point of Contact.
