Comments:

Analytical study of a self-defense technique is done through the three (3) phases paradigm:

a.Ideal Phase

b.What if Phase

c.Formulation Phase

There is related concept of Real Deal Phase which is basically a variation on the combination of the What if Phase and Formulation Phase which stylizes the technique in an attempt to layout some basic modifications that can be made to a specific self-defense technique to favor street worthiness over the teaching of the concepts and principles. This phase was originated and often cited by Frank Trejo.

A Self-defense technique can also be described as distinct type of Base Move.
