Front

The side of something that faces forward, is the most important, or is used most frequently.

The direction toward a Point of Reference.

3)

Any Environmental Object closest to the Point of Reference.

Comments:

This term is very generic and has many different meanings.

1)

The front of an object is the most frequently exposed part.

 

The front targets are typically more numerous, but better defended.

2)

Using the the Clock Principle, this direction is within the 9:00 - 3:00 range with the Point of Reference toward 12:00.

 

Using the Directional Zone Principle, this direction is anything forward of left or right flank.

 

This term is often used interchangeably with Ahead, Advance, and Forward.

3)

As in Weapon, Target, Environmental Object, etc.

 

The front weapons have the advantage of being closer to the targets and typically having more reach, but have the disadvantage of typically not having as much Path of Travel for developing power.

 

This term is often used interchangeably with Lead, Closest, and Forward.
