Vise-like

A distinct category of a basic which is distinguishable by being enacted through some form of compression.

Comments:

Vise-like maneuvers can be used to:

Destabilize

Lock

Break

injure

detain, hinder, or otherwise prevent motion

with the primary factor of the maneuver being the use of compression

Along with the obvious, the vise-like category does include some non-obvious maneuvers, such as:

Stab

Tackle - when used in conjunction with the ground

Vise-like maneuvers require multiple sides to create the compression on an Environmental Object that is being compressed, and can be completed using any type of weapon.

Vise-like maneuvers require at least two (2) sides to create the compression. But, they are not limited to just having two (2) sides. This is just the most typical way to create the compression. Realistically, there is no limit to the number of sides a vice-like maneuver can have.

Vise-like maneuvers are often combined with other methods in order to either enact them or enhance them.

Vice-like mostly differs from rips and tears in that vice-like maneuvers use pushing, with the sides traveling toward each other; where rips and tears have the sides pulling away from each other. Another way to think about this is that both rips and tears are the reverse of, or an exaggerated form of a vice-like maneuver. Although, a rip or a tear could also be caused by puncturing (see following statement).

Vise-like differs from stab in that stabbing uses the compressed element of the vice to create damage (i.e. rip or tear) to one of the sides of the compressing elements
