Derivation:

Venetian Blind gets it name from the similar physical perception of the layman's understanding of the term. As a Venetian Blind opens and closes the individual blind strips expand and contract in width relative to a first person perspective (see Three Points of View). This is similar to the individual zones on the opponent expanding and contracting based upon position / posture (i.e. rotation or bend) of the body.
