Lock-out Power

An idiom referring to the physical tactic of executing a maneuver such that it continues to extend beyond the contact point to full extension for the purpose of displacing the opponent and simultaneously creating a depth check (i.e. Lock-out).

Comments:

Lock-out Power is typically created using offensive maneuvers and methods, but this is not a requirement.

Lock-out Power relies upon weapon penetration beyond the contact point (i.e. Contact Penetration) with the target.

One way to describe this type of maneuver is that it starts out as a strike, then transitions into a push (to further enhance the power transfer into the target), and then completes as a check (i.e. a Lock-out).

Another way to describe Lock-out Power is that it transitions from in-flight (offensive) to applied (defensive) once full extension is achieved and maintained. In other words, it typically starts as an offensive maneuver or method and finishes as defensive (i.e. a Lock-out).

Lock-out Power typically attempts to displace the opponent and then further attempts to keep them from returning to their original position (for a period of time) through the use of the Lock-out.
