Open Ended Triangle

An idiom referring to a natural or created (purposeful or otherwise) concave-like shape within the contour of an Environmental Object which can be exploited for offensive and defensive purposes.

Comments:

Open Ended Triangles can occur naturally on an Environmental Object (such as the angle created between the head and shoulder) or generated (such as a Universal Block).

In the general context of the Universal Block, the positioning of two weapons is such that the parts form a triangle that has two (2) sides, with the third side left open.

Defensively, Open Ended Triangles can be incorporated to help to funnel, wedge, trap, or prevent the opponent's weapon from reaching you.

Offensively, Open Ended Triangles can be used against an opponent by using their own body to help guide your weapon(s) to the intended target(s).

Open Ended Triangle is directly associated with the term Margin for Error because they can be exploited as such. In other words, an Open Ended Triangle allows one to be less precise and yet still potentially obtain the same effective results by exploiting the funneling shape.

Open Ended Triangle is directly associated with the term Fitting in that the natural indent of an Environmental Object can be exploited by the natural protrusion of most weapon shapes - thus allowing the weapon to "fit" into the Open Ended Triangle.

Open Ended Triangle as a term is conceptual - not literal. For example, one may describe the groin area of a standing opponent as an Open Ended Triangle (formed by the junction of the legs to the body), although there really is no physical Open Ended Triangle to speak of (due to the feet touching the ground).
