Universal (Blocks)

A specific category of Striking block which is physically distinguishable by the use of multiple extremities simultaneously to effect the maneuver.

Comments:

Universal blocks are most commonly effected with both arms, but technically, could could be comprised of any combination of extremities and/or body parts. Because of this, there is no requirement to use the same type of block for each component of the block in total.

Universal blocks can be performed to the same direction or to multiple directions simultaneously.

Any of the block combinations can be executed with a variety of different Methods of Execution, independently or in tandem, including (but not limited to):

Thrust

Hammer

Hook

Roundhouse

Lift

Loop

Scoop

Given the numerous potential combinations available to effect the maneuver, one can easily see that the list of all possible universal blocks is vast. This is why only the most common universal blocks that are used within the self-defense techniques are individually listed in this section.

Derivation:

This category of blocks derives its name from the fact that it covers multiple zones at the same time - i.e. universal coverage.
