Grafted Technique is specific in nature and only refers to the grafting of Self-Defense Techniques.
Graft in this context, refers to the looser definition which also includes splicing.
This concept begins to approach the way a practitioner should understand what a Self-Defense Technique is designed to be. They should be thought of as individual maneuver and methods or combined maneuvers and methods that can be used interchangeably with other Self-Defense Techniques at will. They should not be thought of as a predefined, stagnant series of movements that should be executed from start to finish. Nor "the best defense to a given offense", or a predetermined fight.
This concept is closely associated with Stages of Internalization in that they both have the goal of creating extemporaneous movements that flow naturally and interchangeably.
This concept is somewhat associated with Stages of Learning as it relates to the Formulation Equation.
This concept can be considered one of the goals of the Self-Defense Division of the art. |
