Close Kneel (Stance)

A specific type of Kneel stance which is physically distinguishable by a 50%-50% weight distribution, Toe-Heel Alignment of width, Heel-Knee Alignment of depth, both knees bent to a point of having the rear knee a few inches from the ground as a general alignment of height, and the rotational alignment of the body and front foot on a forward, 45 degree angle to the Point of Reference, and rear foot perpendicular to the Point of Reference.

Comments:

This stance is considered to be a lower variation to the standard forward bow stance.

The main purposes of a close kneel are:

a)enhance Gravitational Marriage

b)lower height

c)provide stability from front (12:00) and back (6:00)

d)create a pin, check

e)strike vertically downward with the rear knee

f)protect the groin area

The main weaknesses of a close kneel are:

a)lack of stability from the flanks (3:00 and 9:00)

b)difficult to maintain for a prolonged period

Derivation:

This stance derives its name from the fact that the rear leg does not extend outward to the side unlike its cousin the wide kneel.
