Stances

 

A distinct category of a basic which is physically distinguishable by employing the the legs and body to create foundational Postural Positions.

 

Comments:

 

Stances are commonly referred to as frozen motion.

 

Stances are physically recognizable by a combination of:

Alignment of the feet

Position of feet

Weight Distribution

 

Posture is generally not a determining factor of stance.  The exceptions are where posture creates a variance in Weight Distribution and/or a repositioning of the feet.

 

Arm and hand positions (Guard) are generally not a determining factor of stance.

 

Stance alignments are typically a trade off between stability and mobility.
