An idiom referring to the practicing of a Self-Defense Technique alone - and therefore "in the air". |

Although one at times one must practice alone, Technique in Air is the least recommended method of practicing Self-Defense Techniques. This is due to the fact that one must rely solely upon their imagination and is removed from the subtleties and feedback that arise when practicing with (a) partner(s).
Technique in Air is recommended when first learning a Self-Defense Technique. This method gives the practitioner time to walk-through and learn the motions without the pressure of performance. It also allows them to further explore and understand the concepts, rules, and principles contained within the motions and strategies of the sequence. |
