Pivoting Axis

A fixed area on an Environmental Object on which it rotates or revolves.

Comments:

This is generally the Layman's usage of the term.

An easy way to understand Pivoting Axis is that there is a fixed line or surface on the object on which the rest of the object rotates.

Pivoting Axis differs from Pivot Point in that a Pivoting Axis has a larger section of the object which is used for rotation - typically an entire edge on or an entire line of the object. Therefore, it has less overall versatility in rotational options.

Pivoting Axis does not have to be inside the object, but can be on the outer surface of the object. Because of this, it is more common for a Pivoting Axis to not be a joint on the human body.

Pivoting Axis can equally be applied to offensive and defensive maneuvers and methods.

See Pivot and Pivot Point for more information of the general subject.
