In layman's terms, a finger technique is a generic term for any offensive maneuver that employs only the fingers to strike.
Due to the natural fragility of the fingers, this classification of maneuvers is most commonly used against softer targets, such as the eyes or throat. But, with purposeful hardening of the weapon(s), they can effectively be used against practically any type of target.
Although, Finger Techniques are limited to using only the fingers, they are not limited to any specific set or number of fingers.
The most commonly used number of fingers are: •four fingers •two fingers •single finger •thumb
Also, with each set of fingers used, they can each be executed in vast array of directions (e.g. straight, back, side, etc.) and orientations (e.g. horizontal, vertical, inverted, etc.).
Additionally, many Finger Techniques can be executed with different Methods of Execution, including (but not limited to):
Plus, many Finger Techniques can employ (but are not limited to) the following maneuver types:
Given the numerous potential options available to effect the maneuver, one can easily see that the potential for creating a list of all possible Finger Techniques is daunting. This is why primarily only the Finger Techniques included in the original written curriculum are individually listed in this section.
Although the use term says "Finger Techniques" it is possible to use the toes as a replacement for certain maneuvers. |
