Family Grouping

 

An analogy describing the relating seemingly dissimilar moves, by drawing a correlation to a similar Point of Origin, Point of Reference, context, circumstance, and/or framework.

 

Comments:

 

This analogy lays out a way of relating motion using the sequence as a family members as such:

main maneuver (usually defensive) = mother

secondary maneuver (usually offensive and usually with the opposite limb) = father

follow-up maneuvers = first cousin / second cousin / etc.

This term differs from Family Related Moves in that it is associated with multiple maneuvers or methods.

 

Derivation:

The concept of Family derives from the idea of a family containing a mother, father, brother, sister, etc.
