Formulation Phase

An idiom describing a specific method of analyzing a Base Move by formulating changes to the Base Move.

Comments:

This is the third phase of learning a Self-defense Technique.

This phase is most closely associated with the Spontaneous Stage of learning.

This is the most sophisticated phase of analyzing a Base Move.

This phase removes all constraints on the analysis of a Base Move by encouraging the altering of the Base Move itself along with the environmental and situational aspects of the Base Move.

This phase builds upon the previous phases of analysis, where the information learned in the Ideal Phase, along with the variations formulated in the What if Phase can be used to help develop further formulation to the Base Move itself - by implementing the Formulation Equation.

The ultimate goal of this phase is to be able to freely, spontaneously, and immediately pick and alter a Base Move to any presented situation.  In other words, to be able to select any Base Move at any time and endlessly alter it at will and without thought.

Derivation:

This term is derived from what method is implemented for analysis of the Base Move - namely the Formulation Equation.
