Exhaling is done through the tightening and contracting of muscles in the body.
Because muscles tighten during an exhale, External Systems tend to emphasis this part of the breathing process.
The major detraction to exhaling is that the muscles of the body tend to stay in a tightened state, which diminishes the potential for optimal speed and mobility.
Exhaling tends to exploit these benefits of the breathing process: a.stability of one's stance b.timing of Maneuvers c.power generation of Maneuvers d.reinforce the body against harm from external forces e.used as a Psychological Weapon
Exhaling should be done: a.simultaneous with settling b.simultaneous with strikes and blocks - at the Point of Contact c.just prior to the Point of Contact of strikes from an opponent
On an exhale, one typically maintains the exhale or the transition point in order to help keep the muscles tightened in preparation for impact from an external source.
